Uganda Premier League side Express has confirmed that they are set to leave Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, for Nakivubo Stadium.
This was confirmed through a press statement shared via the club’s official social media platforms.
This will put an end to a remarkable era of 33 years in which the Red Eagles have used Wankulukuku as their home.
According to the club, the development is in line with achieving more and more success as planned by the club’s management.
“As we look forward to the future, we have made the difficult decision to move to Nakivubo Stadium for the 2024-2025 season. This decision has not been made lightly and is part of our broader strategy to grow and reach new heights,” the statement partly reads.
“Wankulukuku has not only been home but also a sanctuary for our fans, a place where countless moments of joy, triumph, and even heartache have bound us all together. We are grateful for the opportunity to call Wankulukuku home for three decades.”
Express recently lost to SC Villa 1-0 in a friendly encounter at the grand opening of the newly built stadium.
