Kawempe Muslim Ladies Football Club have been crowned the 2023-24 FUFA Women Super League champions.
The Valley Warriors needed at least a draw over fellow title contenders Kampala Queens Football Club but got victory they got in their own backyard to claim their fifth title.
Kawempe registered a 2-0 win thanks to second-half goals from MVP and top scorer Agnes Nabukenya and Allen Nassazi.
However, it was Kampala Queens that dominated proceedings in the opening 45 minutes but were not lethal in front of goal.
In the second half, the hosts were the better side and utilized their goal-scoring opportunities.
Nabukenya fired home a free kick in the 67th minute before Nassaazi doubled Kawempe’s advantage with her headed effort.
Victory took Kawempe Muslim’s points tally to 40 while Kampala Queens finished with 36 points.
It is the fifth top-flight title for Kawempe Muslim in history, but their first since the name changed to FUFA Women Super League in 2019.
