NEC Football Club secured their place in the Round of 32 of the 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup with a commanding 4-0 victory over UCU at Mbale City Stadium on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Goals from Emmanuel Ajo, James Jarieko, Allan Mugalu, and Dickson Niwamanya sealed a dominant performance for Hussein Mbalangu’s side.
Ajo opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Jarieko and Mugalu struck in quick succession just before halftime, giving NEC a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.
Second-half substitute Niwamanya, who replaced Jarieko in the 77th minute, put the game beyond doubt with an 87th-minute goal to wrap up the emphatic victory.
NEC will be aiming to go a step further this season after finishing as runners-up in last year’s final, where they lost 1-0 to Kitara at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.
