Uganda netball side NIC lifted the East Africa Netball Club title at the just concluded championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
In the final game of the championship, NIC saw off Zanzibar’s KVC in a 62-37 loss thus emerging champions for yet another time cementing their regional dominance.
Along the championship, the Ugandan side faced a tough time after securing a hard-fought 39-38 victory against rivals Prison in a thrilling encounter.
NIC concluded the tournament with eight wins (16 points) in eight games in the round-robin championship.
In the second position was Ugandan side Prison with 14 points after beating Tanzania’s Usimmiaje 41-38.
Rashid Mubiru, NIC head coach was grateful for the players’ hard work and team spirit.
“We trained hard for this tournament and our victory is a true testament that hard work pays,” Mubiru stated.
“My players put on a good show. We were good from the start to the end. However, NIC edged us by one goal to win the title. We are going back to the drawing board to ensure our team performs better next time,” he added.
