FUFA Women Super League champions Kawempe Muslim were flagged off to Ethiopia today, Wednesday, at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.
The school headteacher and club chairperson, Zuraika Kibirige, flagged off the travelling contingent made of 25 members ahead of the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers.
In a press conference, Kibirige revealed that the football programme has given the institution pride and confidence.
“Football gives them skills, pride and confidence. We emphasise their talent and education to gain knowledge that will benefit them,” she said.
In the same breath, the team captain Phiona Nabulime expressed readiness for the regional tournament.
“We are in this tournament due to hard work. It’s not by mistake, and I believe we deserved it. We have prepared well, and I believe we are in a good place to offer the best,” she said.
