UCU Canons secured a well-deserved 82-52 victory against KCCA Panthers in Game Three of the National Basketball League playoffs at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The victory helped the Canons secure the last semifinal slot, thus completing the puzzle of the last four teams standing.

The Canons started the game on the front foot, creating a 20-point (27-7) lead at the end of the opening quarter.

The Panthers attempted to respond, but despite their strong fight, they were trailing by 15 points going into the long break.

In the third quarter, Canons recreated their 24-point (59-35) lead before they eventually registered a 30-point (82-52) victory.

Peter Sifuma had a colourful night, securing a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

In the same breath, Joel Kayiira recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Jimmy Otim (19 points) and Kevin Kasobya (11 points) contributed to the Canons’ scoreboard in double digits.

On the other hand, only David Assimwe (13 points) and Emmanuel Odongkara (10 points) managed to score double digits.

Next on the menu, the Canons will take on record champions City Oil in the best-of-five semifinal series on Friday, August 16.
