SC Villa finally received a green light to host Commercial Bank of Ethiopia on Saturday, August 17, at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
In the earlier proceedings, the UPDF construction team, through the Project Engineer, Lieutenant Col. Peter Kidemuka revealed that there was still construction work going on.
The revelation raised alarms that led to a meeting that was called by State Minister of Sports Peter Ogwang to forge a way through.
The meeting was attended by Club President Omar Mandela, General Secretary Khasim Nziraguhanda, CEO William Nkemba, and the stadium management.
After the meeting, Nkemba revealed that the club has gotten the green light to go ahead and host the upcoming game at Namboole.
“We have agreed to host our game at CBE at Namboole. Measures have been agreed upon that will be taken for us to protect the ongoing works,” Nkemba revealed.
“We shall have the VIPs come through the main gate; then other fans will use the northern gate. We are also exploring opening the southern gate for the visiting supporters,’ he added.
Villa qualified for the CAF Champions League Qualifiers after clinching the 2023-24 Uganda Premier League title.
