Kitara FC secured a 1-0 victory against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 encounter at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Saturday.
Denis Omedi was on target as Kitara secured the bragging rights in the first leg of the FUFA Super 8 quarter final match-up.
KCCA kicked off the game on a high rhythm, and Kitara’s David Ndihabwe was cautioned due to a deal on right back Haruna Lukwago.
In the 22nd minute, Abu Mayanja’s goal bound effort was deflected out of the perfect direction before Kitara custodian Crispas Kusiima saved the ball.
Omedi broke the deadlock in the 26th minute with a delightful effort sending Kitara in the driving seat.
Julius Poloto nearly levelled matters, but his challenge parried away by Kusiima in a full stretch save.
In the 66th minute, Shafik Kwikiriza guided the ball into the back of the net, but the assistant referee flagged the effort offside.
Saidi Mayanja and Bright Anukani teamed up in a swift attack, but the attacking midfielder’s final effort went narrowly wide of the frame.
The two sides will face off in the second leg on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Lugogo.
